Trial lessons are a great introduction to flying whether it is for a once in a life time experience or the first of many flights. Trial lessons can count towards your Private Pilot’s Licence.

Your session will begin with a short briefing during which your CAA Certified instructor will explain the basic principles of flight and the fundamental controls of the aircraft. You will then take the captain’s seat and with the instructor seated beside you, start the engine and taxi to the runway. A few more checks are undertaken and then you ‘line up’ for take-off. As you accelerate along the runway the instructor will allow you to lightly have your hands on the control column and you will take to the air and experience the joys of piloting over the sights of Newcastle and Northumberland. You will do much of the flying yourself!
After returning to Newcastle, there will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Terms & Conditions

While we want you to get the most from your trial flying experience, we would like to draw your attention to the terms under which we offer our vouchers. Please read these carefully, as they will help everything run more smoothly and avoid any unnecessary disappointments.

Vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. The gift voucher expiration date will be stated on voucher and cannot be used after that date. While vouchers may be transferred from one person to another, they are not refundable.

Vouchers can be extended for a further 3 months for a fee of £30. The fee must be paid before the expiry of the voucher. This extension can only be made once.

Voucher flights must be booked within 3 months of purchase. However, the date of the flight itself can be up to 6 months from the date of purchase. If vouchers are booked for the first time in the last month of the expiry date and then cancelled due to weather up to the expiry then vouchers cannot be extended free of charge. A fee of £30 can be paid before the expiry to extend for a further 3 months as a ‘one off’. Trial lesson vouchers should be produced for inspection prior to the flight.

If the customer has shown to attempt to book in once each month during the 6 months validity but cancelled due to the weather then vouchers will be extended free of charge until flown.

If a customer has shown no attempt to book the voucher in throughout the 6 months validity then the voucher will not be accepted after the expiry date.
Vouchers cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash or other denominated vouchers.
The maximum weight limit for the aircraft is 17 stone. All flying participants must be minimum age of 12 years old. Only 1 observer can accompany the participant having the lesson in the aircraft.

Trial flight participants are strongly advised to telephone the school on 07780 246018 prior to departing for the lesson to confirm the booking, and the suitability of the prevailing weather for the flight.

Whilst every precaution is taken for the safety of all participants, the operator cannot be held liable for loss, damage or injury which does not result from their negligence. Those wishing to take cameras and other photographic equipment on the flight do so entirely at their own risk.
The instructor and or Chief Flying Instructor have the right to refuse anyone they feel is unsuitable to fly. It should go without saying that you should not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs (prescribed or otherwise!) when going flying.

NEFA reserves the right to cancel any flight with little notice if the prevailing weather is deemed unsuitable for flying, or to cancel, postpone or re-schedule any flight for operational or aircraft serviceability reasons.

Cancelling a flight

While we appreciate you may need to cancel a booked flight for whatever reason, 24Hrs notice is required to avoid forfeiting your voucher. Trial lesson participants failing to arrive for the flight with insufficient time remaining or not arriving at all without any prior notice will lose the voucher without a refund.

Weather

If the weather is unsuitable on the day then your flight will be rescheduled.

Refund Policy

The purchaser of the voucher is entitled to a 14-day ‘cooling off’ period provided the gift voucher is returned unused and with the original receipt within 14 days of purchase, after which a full refund will be made.

Voucher Validity

Trial Flight Vouchers MUST be redeemed within 6 months from date of purchase.
